Shovon Hasan, the Managing Director of LifeArk, embodies a unique blend of expertise, experience, and passion. Originally from Bangladesh, Hasan’s journey began in 2008 when he arrived in Japan as a MEXT scholarship student. His academic path led him to Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees by 2016. This academic foundation was just the beginning of a distinguished career dedicated to integrating skilled foreign talent into Japan’s workforce and addressing the country’s demographic challenges.
Hasan’s professional career commenced at Dena Co., Ltd, where he honed his skills as a software developer. This role provided him with critical insights into cutting-edge technologies and Japanese work culture. In 2019, he advanced to Nextbeat Co., Ltd, serving as a Tech Lead. Here, Hasan’s focus was on facilitating IT job placement service for foreigners in Japan. This role deepened his understanding of the recruitment landscape and ignited his vision of addressing Japan’s workforce shortage by leveraging skilled workers from developing countries.
His subsequent role at NN Life Japan further enriched his experience. As a software developer and later a Tech Lead and Engineering Manager, Hasan managed a diverse team of 15 IT engineers from ten different nationalities. This role offered him invaluable insights into the expectations and career aspirations of highly skilled foreign engineers, as well as the challenges arising from cultural and language differences. His time at NN Life Japan also allowed him to understand the intricacies of balancing professional and personal life in Japan, particularly through his experiences as a husband and father of three children born in Japan.
In 2024, Hasan channeled his extensive experience and profound understanding of both Japanese and foreign cultures into founding LifeArk. The company’s mission is twofold: to assist individuals from developing countries, such as Bangladesh, in gaining skills, securing job opportunities in Japan, and navigating life in a new country; and to address Japan’s workforce decline by bringing skilled, Japanese-speaking workers from abroad. LifeArk aims to create a sustainable society by bridging the gap between these two worlds.
LifeArk offers three core services: recruitment services to connect foreign workers with Japanese companies, offshore IT development support to help SMEs and startups save costs while accessing skilled IT professionals from Bangladesh, and personalized consultation for foreigners in Japan on various life-related issues. Through these services, LifeArk not only addresses Japan’s workforce needs but also supports foreign individuals in overcoming challenges and building a successful life in Japan.
Shovon Hasan’s journey from a scholarship student to a leading entrepreneur exemplifies his commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding and creating meaningful opportunities. With LifeArk, he continues to drive impactful change, benefiting both individuals and organizations in Japan and beyond.
